Hidden Oaks Haus: Enlivening Architecture with Vibrant Natural Landscapes

Native Plants, Outdoor Living Areas, Hardscape Design, Sustainable Drainage, Color-Changing Lighting,

Project Overview

Welcome to the Hidden Oaks Haus, our latest new construction Landscape, we artfully softened this moody structure with bright natural elements, seamlessly blending lush greenery and native plants. Emphasizing order in the yard through strategic hardscape design, we created a cohesive and inviting outdoor space that complements the home’s transitional aesthetic.

Design Philosophy

Our design stance on this home centers on seamlessly integrating nature’s vibrancy with the dark architectural elements and the home’s heavy massing. We soften these features by introducing bright flowers and lush greenery, creating a harmonious balance that anchors the home to the property.

Features and Highlights

Celebrating local biodiversity: Our landscape design showcases a thoughtfully curated selection of native plants. A gridwork of fountain grasses and columnar trees flank the front walkway, offering a visually appealing environment that evolves with vibrant colors throughout the year. Embracing sustainability and natural beauty, our landscape creates a harmonious blend of local flora and architectural elements.

Outdoor Living Spaces: We designed multiple outdoor living areas, including a natural bluestone patio with a handmade COR-TEN steel fire bowl, a heavy timber pergola to escape the summer sun, and multiple porches to capture the expansive views of the property.

Sustainable Practices: Like most of our projects, we have employed many unique drainage systems. For example, the front walkway utilizes a banding of Mexican pebbles to dissipate the water before it hits the planting area.

Lighting Design: Full-color changing lighting illuminates the property individually, highlighting key elements throughout the property, further softening the man-made elements and blanketing the home and landscape in color!

Challenges and Solutions

Softening a heavy structure with landscaping presents challenges in selecting plants that thrive in specific conditions. Our solution involves strategic plant choices, varied foliage textures, and vertical elements to distract from the structure’s mass. Incorporating well-placed hardscape elements ensures a cohesive transformation, balancing nature with architecture for visual harmony.

Conclusion

The Hidden Oaks Haus stands like a monument, showcasing what landscaping can really do for a home. Our dedication to the harmonious relationship between structure and nature really shines through on this project!
